Miskelly Burials

It can be sometimes quite difficult to locate where people are buried but I have made some headway and discovered the final resting place of some of my ancestors. In particular I first concentrated on my direct  family who are buried in the following cemeteries:-

John(1809) & Mary(1815) - Carlisle.

James Montgomery(1834) - Ryhope Rd  Sunderland.

Elizabeth(1835) - Byker, Newcastle.

Thomas(1858) & Elizabeth(1859) - Penrith.

Thomas(1897) & Jane(1896) - Penrith.

James Miskelly(1926) - Ashes with Parents - Penrith.

Amy  Craig (Miskelly)(1929) - Ashes - Carlisle.

Sadly John, Mary,James and  Elizabeth have no markers. I have visited each location and left a simple cross in recognition. Whether or not they will remain in place we shall have to see  but at least I had made the effort to recognize them.

I have also managed to locate all of my Great Aunts and Uncles siblings of Thomas 1897 my Grandfather.

James(1884)  - Penrith

Annie(1886) & John(?) - Penrith.

Alice(1889) - Ashes - Tuddenham, Suffolk.

Mary(1892) - Penrith.

Albert(1894) & Edith(?) - Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

Florence(1895) - Ashes - Exeter.

Sadly James and Mary have no markers but again I placed a small cross on their plots.

Alice Had her Ashes spread beneath an apple tree in an Orchard that she owned behind her house where years before she had spread her son Johns ashes after he died quite young.

Alice married Charles Mortimer in 1927 and he sadly died in 1941 when a German bomb fell on their house in Exmouth, Devon. Alice's daughter Christine does not recall where he was buried but he is recorded on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site so should be easy to locate.

The only other family member is my brother Christopher Paul born in December 1952 but sadly died a few days later in January 1953 he is buried in Penrith cemetery.
